There are a number of companies that provide loans for people with a Bad Credit Score, charging exorbitant rates of interest and extra premium fee for the risk factor associated with it. For enjoying the various benefits offered to a positive credit record it is important to set right the deviations and maintain a good credit record.

10 ways to Repair Bad Credit

Following are the various ways in which this effort can be accomplished.

Settle all your current loans before applying for fresh loans.

Continue paying all your bills in time, without any delay. This will slowly increase your credit rating.

Closely monitor your credit report, unintentional mistakes might prove to be a very costly affair.

To improve your bad credit history you can opt for a Home Mortgage Loan. The interest rates are comparatively lower when compared to the other bad credit loans. This helps in settling the current loan and repaying the mortgage loan at flexible installments.

Where home mortgage refinance loans are difficult to avail, you can always take the help of subprime lenders who offer loans for bad credit.

Avoid taking loans, when you already have list of them to repay. Try to go without the _object_ for which the loan is taken.

Where it becomes difficult to repay a loan installment, inform the lender before he could call you in this regard. This helps to build the trust.

Plan your finances in advance so as to avoid last minute panicking.
Save some amount every month by managing cash flows and personal finances. Even a small amount saved, helps building sufficient cash for future commitments.

Try and inculcate the thought of financial security which helps in getting rid of unplanned expenditures and their by incidental loans.

Hi Johnny,

I'm aware this thread is quiet old, I had been through similar instance few times in the past and I though I would share my thoughts for others. If you have defaults or any CCJ's in your account, it could take upto 6 months for them to be resolved. If you have missed few payments, I'd suggest you to talk to your respective companies and request for a change in credit file after you have settled them. Give them possible reasons why you had missed, any reason which they seem positive could bring you some help (like it happened with me).

Whilst improvement in credit rating is a long journey, you can look into applying for Credit Cards for people with Bad Credit as they often provide you cards even when your credit score is very low. Additionally, if you can follow your payments in timely manner they can also help you increase your score in a long time. But unfortuantely they charges these companies take are higher than normal credit card companies, but hey I'd suggest only if you were looking for a fast fix on your credit scores.

There are other little loop holes which you might want to try but most companies wouldn't suggest doing this, like for instance adding a close friend or family member with a good credit history as authorized user in your credit account could help improve the score. Although, I have personally not tried them I have seem people suggesting them in forums I visit. But always remember, paying your bills on time is the key to statying away from poor credit scores and history.

The credit management companies (Equifax, Experian etc.,) have their own section 'Consumer' where they offer soem valuable insights on how you can improve your scores. You might to follow up with them too.

Good luck!

Hi guys,
Here are many things you can do to repair your bad credit. Before you take concrete steps to improve your credit, you should take a look at the factors that lead to your bad credit in the first place. If you can figure out your hot buttons, such as overspending, using a credit card for unexpected bills, or not paying your bills on time, you can work solutions to the problems into your improved use of credit.

Thanks.

After years of bad publicity, fines for mis-selling products and unrest over charges, Britain's banks have opened up an unlikely new battleground: customer service. The reasons are varied and include the need to restore their battered reputations and hopefully allow people with bad credit to have a basic bank account.

The factors that may influence a person's credit rating are:

ability to pay a loan
interest
amount of credit used
saving patterns
spending patterns
debt
